Michael A. Gawley
Michael represents healthcare clients with a focus on litigation and dispute resolution. He has litigated in state and federal trial courts throughout California, securing favorable outcomes for his clients. Michael has experience handling a broad range of matters, including reimbursement disputes, fair procedure and peer review, internal investigations, labor and employment issues, breach of contract, shareholder and partnership disputes, and related healthcare issues. He regularly advises clients on employment and healthcare compliance issues. Michael has also represented clients in arbitration hearings and other alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
Michael was selected as a 2016 and 2017 Super Lawyer, Rising Star in Northern California. He is a member of the California Society for Healthcare Attorneys and has presented at its annual seminar. Michael is admitted to practice in all California state courts, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Central, Southern, and Eastern Districts of California. Before joining KGF, Michael practiced law as an associate in the San Francisco offices of Kirkland & Ellis LLP.
Michael received his J.D. degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he graduate in the top 5% of his class and received the Roger and Carol Dreyer Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy. He earned his B.A. with honors from Occidental College. Michael previously served as a judicial clerk to Hon. Socrates Peter Manoukian in Santa Clara County Superior Court. In his free time, he serves as a volunteer coach for local high school and law school mock trial teams.
