Steven V. Schnier
Steve specializes in advising physicians, medical staffs, medical groups, ambulatory surgery centers, and other health care professionals and organizations on a full range of health law topics, issues, and concerns. He has four decades of experience in healthcare credentialing, peer review, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance, and that was preceded by four years’ experience in civil and criminal litigation, family law, and banking.
His health law practice has included both formal hearings and committee meetings regarding individual credentialing and peer review questions as well as advice on larger issues of medical group and medical staff organization and physician relations.
Steve also often serves as a hearing officer and legal advisor for physician hearing committees and hospital appellate review bodies.
His undergraduate years were spent at the University of California, after which he attended Stanford Law School, where he qualified for selection as a member of the Board of Editors. This was followed by graduate studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Steve served as the President of the California Society for Healthcare Attorneys after a six-year stint as a member of its Board of Directors. He is also a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and enjoyed a term as a Vice Chairman of its Medical Staff, Credentialing, and Peer Review Practice Group. And, Chambers USA has recognized Steve as a “Leading Lawyer.” During earlier times, Steve served on the California Medical Association-State Bar of California Interprofessional Committee and the San Francisco Medical Society-San Francisco Bar Association Interprofessional Committee.
